Ecovag® probiotic strains

The Ecovag® probiotic strains is the outcome of an international, multi year research project with the objective of identifying unique probiotic strains with superior characteristics. The research project involved the screening of a large number of strains isolated from the vaginal microbiota.

From this extensive research program, Bifodan has selected and patented two strains;

Lactobacillus rhamnosus PB01™
Lactabacillus gasseri, EB01™

Due to their superior performance making them particulary suitable and effective in restoring and maintaining a healthy vaginal microbiotia;

Superior adherence to the vaginal mucosa (vaginal epithelial cells – VEC)

Strong Production of lactic acid to lower vaginal acidity

Production of specific anti-microbial substances such as hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocines suppressing the growth of potential pathogens.
